A few months later, I flew to meet Rick at his house on Long Island, and, after a brief, informal audition, we were soon off to Europe. I ended up singing lead on “Dreamer,” “Take The Long Way Home,” and “It’s Raining Again.” It was my first time touring overseas, and I will always look back fondly on performing in arenas throughout Europe and having lots of good times with that jovial bunch of true rockstars. Rick was kind, creative, and a bit shy. He had a dry, fun, mischievous sense of humor and loved to tell jokes, and I always enjoyed his company.

In late 2015, we were preparing to tour Europe again on a sold out tour when we got the sad news that Rick had developed a form of blood cancer and would need to undergo chemotherapy for the next several months. The tour was postponed indefinitely and never materialized. I would have loved to have done another tour with Rick and Supertramp, but I’m glad that he prioritized his health because he lived for another 10 years after his diagnosis. Rick was truly one-of-a-kind—a working-class Englishman turned prog-rock/pop star. Thanks for all the music and the good times, Rick. It was a privilege and an honor to know you. Rest in peace.

Emotivo, interesante y también divertido este vídeo de Ramzi hablando con John Helliwell y Carl Verheyen sobre Rick. Me ha encantado, y por lo visto habrá más. Al menos eso le contesta Ramzi a uno que se le ha hecho corto.

Qué bueno es poder reírse un poco con las anécdotas que cuentan. Ellos mismos lo hacen. Una buena manera de "desdramatizar" un poco el drama of the century. A mí ya me lo pedía el cuerpo después de varios días de mucha tristeza. Por lo visto, a Rick le molaba el cachondeo y tenía un gran sentido del humor, aunque no lo pareciera de cara al público por su timidez, su habitual reserva y discreción.

"Very sad to hear of the passing of Rick Davies. He was the one true friend I had growing up in the mid to late 60's in Swindon and early 70's in London. A brilliant musician who taught me blues piano. Pictured is Rick and I in our band, “Rick’s Blues” - far before the days of Supertramp and Gilbert O’Sullivan! While I was the drummer in Rick's Blues, Rick was a far better one. I'll now cherish even more the recordings we made of 2 of my songs, in particular the one we sang together in harmony, 'Not This Time But Maybe The Next'. My thoughts go out at this very sad time to Rick's wife Sue and all who knew him."
